Two brothers, hailing from Nelson, The Dobros have been playing together for 26 years – musically for the past 8. Now living in Auckland, The Dobros spent their Uni years in Hamilton and enjoy returning to the shores of the mighty Waikato for gigs & weddings.
With far too many instruments for a two-piece band, their instruments include guitars, a banjo, piano accordion, harmonicas, bass and a cajon. Describing their sound as a rock/folk fusion, The Dobros specialise in taking well known songs, and making them their own.
The Dobros are a reliable Hamilton band for hire, who, through a combination of a high quality PA (2000W), and the use multiple instruments and percussion techniques, can create a much fuller sound than most of your, run-of-the-mill duo bands for hire.
The Dobros' set list covers all generations of rock’n’roll, from old classics like the Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones, to today’s bands like Imagine Dragons, The Killers and Shapeshifter. Rest assured, no matter what generation you identify with, The Dobros will have a tune you can jam too.
A large sound for a 2-Piece
The Dobros use a number of techniques to create a much fuller sound than traditional two-piece bands. Percussion pedals, a cajon, harmonies and the occasional loop all contribute to our unique, full sound. It is often remarked that we sound like a lot more than just two people – but no playback is ever used!
